Inspiration Images & Concept
This project was a hypothetical pop-up shop design for South Station in Boston, Massachusetts. This temporary installation is meant to market new color options for the iconic Bean Boot. With a location like Boston having harsh winters and South Station holding thousands of travelers daily, a pop-up shop for L.L. Bean in this location is ideal. This design focuses on the use of the natural light South Station already provides and making the retail space eye-catching. Feature pieces in the design make for social media worthy moments and market the shop to others for no additional cost.

This pop-up shop for L.L. Bean will be inspired by chains and the way that chains link together. The chains from the bottom of the Original L.L. Bean boot are direct inspiration because their linked pattern is supposed to provide stability and extra grip for the wearer. L.L. Bean and their products are the link between people and the outdoors. Chains connect together to form a stronger bond and are made more sturdy and reliable when they are linked. This design will incorporate the chains and the chain links into the fixtures, circulation, and rustic/industrial finishes.

The Big Boot was implemented after researching marketing strategies in design as a feature or "Intstagrammable" moment. This draws customers in for a fun picture, and because the boot is in the shop, encourages customers to look around after they have taken their photos.
