IESNA Student Design Competition - 2019
Confetti Luminaire
Inspiration Images & Concept
This custom designed luminaire was a two part project. First, sketching and 3D modeling were done to create a hypothetical digital model & showcase it in an applicable space. Second, a physical rendition of the custom luminaire was created to showcase how it might be manufactured if it were to be produced. The physical model did not have to be to scale or using the exact materials, it was meant to serve as a physical example and model making experience. This luminaire project was a part of the IESNA Boston Section Student Scholarship Design Competition for 2018-2019.

Confetti is an icon for celebration and happiness. Most known for floating through the air during parties, confetti can be found at any venue that provides a space for celebration. Milestone birthdays, big events, and parades are times where confetti is showered over and honoring the special person or event of that day. This colorful and usually shiny celebratory item brings joy to the people that it covers and often leaves people dotted in multicolor specks and carrying a big smile. Casinos, banquet halls, and nightclubs are all places where this luminaire could be installed in order to bring the idea of confetti to life with the power of light.
